The soils of great vintage wines

The naming AOC  Great Vintage wine dates only from 1975. The identification of Great Vintage wines was made in two time. In 1983, a first decree defined twenty five places as producing Great Vintage wines. This list was completed in 1992 by twenty five other places, then in 2006 by a last place. There are thus to-day 51 soils which can refer to AOC Alsace Great Vintage wines.
Among 51 naming " Alsace Great Vintage wines ", our House has the privilege to present you 3 Great Vintage wines.
This naming is awarded to our wines answering numerous quality criteria which bring them a meaningful strength and a particular authenticity : strict demarcation of soils, more limited return (< 50hl / ha), specific rules of driving of the vineyard, the minimal natural wealth, the tasting of approval.
Only Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and the Muscatel wines can claim this naming.

the old harvest and selections grains nobles

These two names exist since march 1994 and can be claimed only for  one the four noble grape : Gewurztraminer, Pinot gris, Riesling and Muscat.

According to the year, we let expand a mushroom  Botrytis Cynerea which ennobles the grapes..
On the grape skin it develops its famous mycelium, pierce the skin and make the water evaporate.. The grapes become to be shriveled, lost their acidity and improve the sugar level and complexe singular flavours as apricot, citrus, light spice with some notes of candied or honeyed tast

For the old harvest, vendages tardives, the sugar grade is about 230-250 g/l.
For the sélection grains nobles, the sugar grade is about 270-305 g/l.

Our harvest are very selective in order to only take the noble rot.It demands a lot of manual work with very low yield..
The putting on the market is done at minimun 18 months from the harvest date.
